SOMMAIYA ANGRISH'S NASHA IS A SAD REALITY WRAPPED UP IN SOUL BUMPING BEATS.

Electronic music is a genre that has struggled to break into the mainstream among Indian audiences, who are often fixated on Bollywood and cinema music.

To this day, the genre remains niche and primarily limited to tier 1 cities. Therefore, it's truly refreshing when fresh, talented faces emerge in the Indian electronic scene, crafting their own unique sounds and telling relatable stories.

One such emerging musician is Sommaiya Angrish.Sommaiya, an independent musician from Delhi, describes his music as "sad Hindi music to dance to." He fell in love with the game early on, starting to learn music at the age of 5 , which gave him an early start in finding his voice and identity.

Fast forward to 2020 , the artist released his first track, "Goals," and has never looked back, dropping two albums titled

"Expressions/Impressions" and "Sheeshmehel," along with multiple singles, thus building himself a decent catalogue.

In an attempt to make 2024 his biggest year yet, he is going all in with his releases, already dropping four tracks this year, with the latest addition being "Nasha."

Nasha takes you on an out-of-body experience. The track begins with basic kick drums, setting the stage, and then suddenly bursts into a beat that propels you through different dimensions, reminiscent of Doctor Strange being transported by the Supreme Sorcerer. Continuing on, the track follows a vibrant and twisty path as Sommaiya manipulates various elements and sounds, creating a lively composition that resonates with your soul.

By blending pop elements with progressive house music, the artist crafts a dynamic and seamless flow of sound that strikes the right balance between the expected and the unexpected. The transitions between vocal effects transport you from the back of the club to right next to the DJ, adding a psychedelic touch with its trippy ambiance.

Upon repeated listens, one can't ignore the irony in the message the artist attempts to convey. While Sommaiya seeks help from someone to save him, the production and ambiance give the impression that he's living his best life. This juxtaposition evokes a "I took a pill in ibiza" vibe, considering the shared irony between the tracks: both are punchy and vibrant, yet convey broken and sombre messages. The arrangements and production of the track make it enjoyable and exciting to listen to, while the underlying emotions behind the glitter reveal the harsh reality of today's world and the struggles everyone faces.
