The Young stunners show- A mixed pot of opinions

WRITER- THERAPMAN

Last week, Desi Hip Hop (DHH) had all the momentum on its side. There were new albums, singles, collaborations, and jaw-dropping announcements from the scene. One of the highlights was Young Stunners announcing their tour in India. The tour was announced for three cities: Bangalore, Delhi, and Mumbai. While the dates and venues were yet to be disclosed, the news spread like wildfire. However, one of the most notable aspects was the audience's reaction in India.

Although they need no introduction, Young Stunners is one of the most acclaimed Desi Hip Hop duos from Pakistan, consisting of celebrated rappers Talha Anjum and Talha Yunus. The duo has produced hits like "Gumaan," "Afsanay," and many more, which are popular worldwide, including in India. In one interview, rapper Talha Anjum himself mentioned that he has more listeners in Delhi than in Karachi, his hometown. There's no doubt that the duo has a substantial fan base in India, where people love to listen to their songs.

Given their popularity in India, fans were eager to see them perform in the country. However, this was not possible due to obvious reasons. Previously, Indian fans could only attend Young Stunners' shows at international venues like those in Dubai or Canada. Still, people in India always hoped that one day the duo would perform in their country. Last week, that hope seemed to come true with the announcement of their show.

However, the reception to the announcement was mixed. At first, I thought the post was just another prank, especially since the duo hadn't announced the show on their Instagram accounts. But when I saw the news on several people's stories and noticed Skillbox as an official partner, I realized it was real. The comment section was filled with various reactions. While some people joyfully celebrated the announcement, others posted threats, including death threats. Some saw this as a step toward strengthening the bond between the two countries, while others dredged up old anti-national tweets from the rappers. Like every coin has two sides, this announcement also had its share of controversy. There were heated arguments, not only among fans but also between artists. Both sides presented valid points, but it’s safe to say that more people were excited and gave positive feedback about the show than those who opposed it. This highlights the power of music and hip hop to unite people.

Currently, the show has been removed from Skillbox’s official website. Whether the show was actually going to happen or was merely a test of public opinion is unknown. Nevertheless, the announcement of a show like this in India is a positive step for Desi Hip Hop and Young Stunners' fans. If the show does happen, there's a good chance the tickets will sell out. Although it would require significant security and preparations, the show might be worth it.
